How to install LAMP on a EC2 Amazon AMI?

LAUNCH THE INSTANCE

we use Amazon Linux AMI i386 EBS (ami-6227ad52)

CONNECT WITH SSH

connect as root user with PuTTY (windows) using PEM file.

UPDATE THE SERVER

sudo yum update

INSTALLING SERVER SOFTWARE

Lets start by installing Apache

yum install httpd

Start apache

service httpd start

Install PHP basic libraries

yum install php libmcrypt libmcrypt-devel php-mcrypt php-mbstring

Restart Apache

service httpd restart

Install MySQL Server

yum install mysql
yum install -y mysql-server

Start MySQL

service mysqld start

Assign a MySQL Server password

/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'YOURPASSWORD'

Basic webserver, php, and mysql installed! You should see the Amazon Linux AMI Test Page after entering your instance or Elastic IP address in browser.
